Sulpholane Technology
I have seen this technology in the CSIR Technofest 2010, showcased by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi, at India International Trade Fair during November 14-27, 2010 New Delhi, India. I understand that "Sulpholane Technology" was developed by Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun, India.
Sulpholane is a clear, colorless liquid commonly used in the chemical industry as an extractive distillation solvent or reaction solvent. Sulpholane was originally developed in the 1960s as a solvent to purify butadiene. Sulpholane is an aprotic organosulfur compound, and it is readily soluble in water.
Sulpholane is widely used as an industrial solvent, especially in the extraction of aromatic hydrocarbons from hydrocarbon mixtures and to purify natural gas.
Sulpholane which was developed by IIP, dehradun is having these applications
Solvent for extraction processes such as aromatics from catalytic reformate, hydro treated pyrolysis naphtha and kerosene
Used for removal of acidic
